Husky Salvage received a call from VISAR (Virgin Island Search and Rescue) that catamaran ‘MELCHIOR’ was in need of assistance. S/V MELCHIOR was holed and partially sunk in St Thomas Bay Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands. Husky Chase and her crew departed Nanny Cay Marina, with lift bags, compressors, pumps and patching equipment on board. On arrival Husky Crew transferred equipment to the catamaran and rigging of lift bags commenced. 10 x 6000LB Lift bags were secured to the port hull. Once all bags were placed they were inflated until the port hull began to float. Husky Chase was used to maneuver the hull clear of coral heads and all obstructions. S/V MELCHIOR was anchored in clear water while work continued to secure lift bags and prepare for the tow to Nanny Cay Marina to be hauled out.
